When facing a health-care crisis, many people turn to their religious beliefs for comfort and support. The Pastoral Care staff and volunteers at Mercy Hospital provide the emotional and spiritual care they need. Pastoral Care is supplied by Catholic Priests and a religious sister seven days a week. In addition, we have twenty-five Pastoral Care volunteers committed to visiting patients and serving as Eucharistic Ministers.
The Mercy Chapel is open to anyone seeking the comfort of prayer and reflection. Located on the second floor of the North Wing, the Chapel is open from 6:00am to 10:00pm every day. The closed-circuit television channel 3 provides religious programming throughout the day, including the Holy Mass celebrated twice a day.
- Sun - Fri: 8:30am in English and 12:00pm in Spanish
- Sat: 8:30am in English and 4:00pm Vigil Mass in Spanish (meets the Sunday Obligation)
Patients requesting Holy Communion in their room may contact their nurse. The Sacrament of the Sick and Reconciliation are available by requesting a visit from a priest. For patients of other religious denominations, the Pastoral Care department will be glad to notify his/her pastor, Rabbi or minister. Chaplains can be reached by calling (305) 285-2716.
