Orthopedic and Spine Nurse Navigator—Concierge service for our Ortho & Spine Patients
Unique to Mercy Hospital is its Orthopedic and Spine Patient Navigator. The relationship between the navigator and the patient is to provide and assist in a seamless movement through the surgical continuum of care. Through each step of the process our Orthopedic and Spine Patient Navigator, a trained nurse, guides patients and their families by offering emotional, case management and educational support.
The Orthopedic and Spine Patient Navigator assists patients and their families with every aspect of care from assisting the patient with last minute questions before the day of surgery, to guiding and updating the family member of their loved one’s progression of the surgery. After the surgery, the navigator personally helps patients to verify all orders have been met and explore anything that may be missed to assist in improving a higher level of satisfaction. In addition, our Orthopedic and Spine Patient Navigator continues the relationship with the patient with post discharge phone calls to review opportunities for future activities and answer any residual questions.
